The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Announce a Latest Divinity, Labeling it Their Most Ambitious RPG Yet

The buzz surrounding The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, particularly after presenter Geoff Keighley posted a mysterious photo of a strange statue. The question is finally answered. The acclaimed developer is creating a completely new Divinity game.

Titled simply Divinity, the game was debuted with a bold trailer packed with memorable imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to scenes of revelry and the very descent into chaos.

Moving Beyond Original Sin

For those hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. The studio stated ahead of time that a third Original Sin game to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not currently in development.

However, the developer described this new Divinity as a next chapter of the main series. This phrasing hints that the team is likely building a faster-paced experience rather than another tactical title. For now, we can only guess, as only a announcement clip is available.

A Pillar of Modern RPGs

The Divinity series is universally respected and arguably it sparked the recent resurgence of complex computer role-playing games. These games are known for intricate stories, player agency, and flexible progression—traits that recently were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its universe is traditional swords and sorcery, what truly sets Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust granted to the player.

In contrast to modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is full of niche playthroughs only possible by choosing a particular class or origin with a unique decision path.

The series is also notoriously flexible, allowing players to experiment both in story and combat. Most missions can be completed in diverse methods, frequently in unexpected fashion.

  • You might solve a puzzle because you recalled something a non-human character said.
  • Or, you could bypass a challenge by using the world itself in a unorthodox way.

A New Chapter Begins

It is these creative systems that have cemented the series to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as a top-tier role-playing games in history. Now, the RPG community can look forward to a new entry in this legendary franchise.
